Fire Station 5 is located at 3521 Central Heights Road. Station 5 was built in 1998 and has the following vehicles:

Engine 5 - 2006 E-One. Tank holds 1,000 gallons of water/foam and also serves as a Light Tower/Rescue Tool.
Snorkel Truck - 1977, 85 ft. bucket truck.

The Fire Safety House is housed here and a Wayne County EMS Unit is dispatched from Station 5.

Engine 5 is specialized in confined space and rope rescue.

All of Goldsboro's Operational Fire Fighters work a schedule of:

then 96 hours off (4 days)
This equals out to a 56 hour work week with shifts starting and ending at 8am.

The Fire Safety House is an educational tool that is used in many schools, church events, neighborhood events, and the like. It is a small version of a house which has a kitchen, family room with fire place and an upstairs bedroom. All these rooms are made to look as a room would in real life and are used to help explain what one would do in case of a fire in the home. These rooms have the capability to provide artificial smoke, and the bedroom has a heated door which simulates what it would feel like if a fire was on the other side.
