Fire Prevention

Fire Station 1 is located at 204 S. Center Street. The back side of the station, which is viewed in the photo above, is facing Spruce Street. It is the Headquarters and all administration is performed here. Station 1 was built in 1976 and has the following vehicles:

Ladder 1 - 2001 E-One Ladder 100 ft. Tank holds 475 gallons of water and foam.
Engine 1 - 1998 Spartan Marion. Tank holds 1,000 gallons of water
SRU 1 - 1988 Special Response Truck
Brush Truck - 1976
Truck 7
Boat
Car 1 - Fire Chief
Car 2 - Assistant Chief of Shift
Car 3 - Assistant Chief Support
Car 4 - Assistant Chief (Training & Safety)
Car 5 - Fire Inspector

A Wayne County EMS Unit is also dispatched from Station 1.

Ladder 1 is specialized in confined space and rope rescue.

Engine 1 is specialized in trench rescue.

All of Goldsboro's Operational Fire Fighters work a schedule of:

24 hours on
24 hours off
24 hours on
24 hours off
24 hours on
then 96 hours off (4 days)
This equals out to a 56 hour work week with shifts starting and ending at 8am.
